I've always thought that spending money on cosmetics and skin/hair care is the most unnecessary expense ever. But as I grow older and wiser I'm trying to be more considerate about what I put on my skin. These are my go-to products:
I'm very lazy when it comes to moisturizing my hot bod (as well as shaving legs, plucking eyebrows, filing my feet etc etc) and I'm trying to blame it on me being so tall that it takes too long. Anywho... Ever since I ran out of my perfume (Marc Jacobs Daisy) earlier this year I aimed on finding a body oil that, well, smelled nice. This way I could save cash and not buy one lotion and one fragrance, but get TWO IN ONE.
I first tried coconut oil thinking that I would smell like Body Shop's coconut body butter. I did not. Coconut oil has a very weird smell? I walked around smelling like an old Bounty and that would not go. And that was when I found Fig Fiction Body Oil from & Other Stories. It smells like a fruit bowl in summer and I carry the body splash in the same scent with me if I want to refill a bit during the day. This too being an aspiration of me becoming the kind of person who "freshens up", which I am not...
When it comes to face care I always use spf 30 as a foundation. I'm very pale, as you might have notice, and burn easily. This being after hanging outside for one day. This one from Vichy is great because it absorbs into the skin in a few seconds and doesn't leave a greasy face. After that I use Glossier's priming moisturizer, which is a face cream and primer in one. Very convenient. It's super light, but still very comforting and hydrating. The Glossier balm dotcom is an overall cream that I use on my lips, cuticles and sometimes on my eyelids if I want a glossy look.
I hate foundations more than anything. It's the worst thing ever and makes the skin all greasy and disgusting looking. However, the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint is God's gift to womankind. It doesn't cover, just melts into the skin and softens out the color. Then I use & Other Stories blush in Satin Magenta and a highlighter from Dior called Glow Maximizer.
By the way, Glossier is a brand started by Into The Gloss' Emily Weiss and they only sell their products on their website. Unfortunately they do not ship to Europe as far as I know. So if you're going to the US and want their starter pack (includes all the products I've mentioned + a face spray) make sure to order it so it can be delivered to your hotel in time!
My brows are very natural and I try not to pluck too much. What I do instead is to cut the front of my brows a little bit, since the hairs get too long and hangs down. So I brush them upwards and then make an angry face so the brows come together and the hairs stand out a little. And then I cut only a millimeter or two on the top. My brow pen is from FACE Stockholm in the color Mörkbrun (dark brown) and my brow gel is from Eyeko. As for mascara I use MAC's Studio Fix Blodblack Lash.
And, last but not least, my hair. I'm so over my hair right now. But that always happens with the change of seasons. It gets flat and dry and blah. So, I'm trying not to wash it too often (every other day) and then a good dry schampoo is vital. I just got this from Aussie and it's working way well so far.
And that's how I get away with being pretty!
