After a Friday night that was spent at the agency/laundromat/in bed I started my Saturday with cereal and social media updates. I woke up early and outside people wore shorts and sipped on iced lattes. CAUSE IT WAS SUMMER! 26 degrees, finally!
I took on too much clothes and went out and bought myself an iced coffee. I walked around Lower East Side while waiting for Paula who was meeting me to soak up the sun. We went to Tompkins Square Park for some smoothies and dog watching and then walked down to Lafayette and American Apparel's factory outlet to try on some skirts.
After having been home for five minutes to change into a skirt and brush my hair I took the J over to Brooklyn and Elton and the boys' rooftop. We had some beers while the sun went down and the others dropped off to go different dinners/pre parties. Elton and I were joined by Hana and we went around the corner to get some Bánh Mì that we brought back to the apartment for dinner.
Then we took the elevator one floor up to Irene's. We joined the group who were there for drinks on their balcony while listening to our favorite old tracks. I don't know if it was the fact that we were sitting in t-shirts at 11 pm or that I was on my 4th beer or that the boy I like would look over and smile once a minute, but I felt like; it's happening! What I've been waiting for since starting this school, since summer turned into fall. I'm in New York and it's summer and I'm drinking beer on a balcony with people that makes me so fucking happy.
Later we jumped on the train and went to Bushwick. Colby and Vince are moving to Montreal for work and they were throwing a goodbye party in the sickest apartment ever. In a minute or two the place filled up and we were dancing to the latest Rihanna tracks. When it got too sweaty we took breaks up on the rooftop and the night floated on. A couple of hours later I was making out on a stoop while waiting for an Uber and the neighbors blasting hip hop out their windows.
This morning Elton and Ludde made us a big breakfast of eggs and bacon and then we passed out on the rooftop. We spent the whole day up there, playing our favorite songs and helping our hangovers with an ice cold PBR. Jacob and Will joined and the sun burnt our winter pale faces. Everything anyone said seemed to be hilarious as we just kept on laughing. When the sun went down we went to get some pizza and then I took the subway back to Manhattan.
Never let these New York summer weekends end please.
