I saw a movie last night that had my heart flinch a little bit. It's called 6 years and it's about Mel and Dan, a couple who's in their junior/senior year of college and who has been boyfriend and girlfriend for six years.
They are very much in love and honeymooney and your single self wants to kill them.
But obviously, when being in a relationship for so long when being so young you let people get to you. And you watch some porn to try to spice things up, but ya know, it never really works because porn is WACK.
And you have different dreams. One wants to go home and netflix and chill, one wants to stay at the party. A party that includes cool co-workers and older women who wants a little somethin somethin.
But let's not talk about our mistakes, let's fuck instead and let our souls turn black and stone cold.
But that doesn't work, obviously, and things get messy and sad.
Their worlds turn upside down. But how do you live? How the fuck do you live without the one person you want? It gets crazy relatable at times, being sad and wanting to kill him/her, but at the same time sleep with his/her arms around you.
It's stormy and up and down and back and forth. Just like life. Everything with a beautiful soundtrack and a quirky indie vibe.
Watch it if you like charming indie flicks where college students are portrayed as people and not dumb-dumbs in shorty shorts who stand upside down on a keg. Also, if you like curly haired boys with a smile that will have you gasp.
It's on Netflix.
