A weekend with Jesper.

So, I had this cutie visiting over the weekend, my brother Jesper. I was like a kid on Christmas Eve on Thursday, waiting for him to show up. When he finally did we went straight to B Bar for a beer or three. We interrupt each other constantly while updating each other on what's been going on for the last months. It's crazy how much you miss out on over Skype calls and texting. Elton joins us too and we talk about advertising and school and Brazil and what not. It's kind of nervous, having two people you like so much meet for the first time. But of course they hit it off. When Elton has to leave, Jakob takes his place and we go to Bianca's for dinner.

The next day we walk up to The Butchers Daughter for breakfast. We order the soft boiled eggs with toast and I get some ginger-garlic shot as my throat is bugging me. It's spicy as fuck but does the trick. While we're eating we make plans for the day. Jesper wants to shop and eat lobster rolls, so we decide to walk all the way up to Luke's Lobster in Midtown. We stop in some stores and take breaks for iced coffee as we make our way up.

After our lobster rolls and having said hi to Paula and Louis outside their office we head back downtown for a beer at Mother's Ruin. Suddenly it's late afternoon and we head home for a nap and some freshening up before the evening.

We go to Vanessa's with Jakob and Thedi for some dumplings before taking the subway over the bridge to Brooklyn. We walk up to Burnside on Grand St for gin cocktails and beers. We take over their backyard as the rest of our group shows up. I proudly introduce Jesper to all my friends and of course he charms them all. We play shuffleboards and as it turns out, I'm quite a pro at it. After winning, it's time to go home.

The next day I wake up at Elton's, rushing out of there to make it over to Manhattan and this one on time. Because we're going for brunch with Jakob, Ludde and Thedi at Russ & Daughters. We're the first ones there and signs us up for a table. 45 minute wait feels so damn long when you're hungover and hungry.

While we wait for the others, Jesper and I hide from the heat on Stanton Street, carefully protecting the snus Jesper brought for Ludde. The others show up right on time when our table is ready, finally. And boy, was it worth the wait. The food is amazing. Smoked salmon with fried eggs and potato latkes. All of it taste like a dream. We pour it down with bloody's and mimosas, as you should on a Saturday. After our brunch we head to Williamsburg and a beer garden worthy of Germany. It's pricy as fuck though, so after one beer we decide to walk over to Ludde's instead and take over their roof.

We make rum and coke and play the Grease soundtrack too loud. It's one of these days that makes your heart beat a little stronger, a little faster. But then again, so do all New York Saturdays.

When the rum is out it's time to walk over to the bar where our friends are having a goodbye party, since they're leaving for Europe. The rooftop bar is crowded and everyone we know are there. People are drunk and happy and lovely. At one point the tiredness hits me and when we get home Elton cooks me spinach scramble before passing out in one second.

Yesterday the sky opened up and it wouldn't stop raining. So Jesper and I went to the movies and saw Aloha AND Pitch Perfect 2. We just felt that one wasn't enough. After the second movie we walked in the pouring rain down to Meatball Shop for dinner, finishing off this fab weekend with some meatballs and red wine.

And today Jesper went home and I went back to work. It's still raining.
